Best Seat in the House
By Annsley McAleer
Unless you already have the ideal home office set up, (which, let’s face, few of us do) the work chair is the perfect topic to discuss right now, as so many of us are WFH, contemplating how great or not great our home workspace really is.
Here are a few of my favorite home office chairs, and some new ones I’m trying out:
Eames
For a more contemporary look and extreme comfort the Eames chairs through DWR are the best:
I would probably have to have one in white leather. It just looks so good.
Saarinen
The Saarinen chairs are also crazy comfortable because they give a bit and fit your back perfectly. I also find them nicely transitional - particularly the version with the wood legs.
These two versions are also available through DWR - with metal legs, with wooden legs.
Or - if you order through Knoll you can use your own fabric, which is pretty fun, too!
Blue Dot
BluDot is a new favorite brand. I have yet to sit in these chairs, but they look comfortable and the style and price is right.
The Racer Dining Chair, $349
Schumacher
I always love these two styles for Office and Dining chairs and I find them quite comfortable. They are a more traditional for sure and also more expensive…but you only need one!
Restoration Hardware
Restoration Hardware has a version similar to the Schumacher Marie Therese that is comfortable and could also be easily reupholstered in a fun fabric of your own.
For a writer or editor, I think something like this could work at the desk - with a fun, nubby fabric!
Restoration Hardware Morgan Curved-Back Track Arm Collection
I’m always looking for ways to make people’s personal spaces more inspiring. Adjusting to this new reality is hard, at least we should have a soft, easy place to sit while we’re working through it.
